About
A small special section from the artist's determined life story;
Dila Tanrıkulu has been chasing after her ideals as a hearing-impaired person from a very young age. With the help of a hearing aid, she communicates by lip-reading while trying to hear at a small rate. Throughout his education life, she channeled her hearing disability into her life with great effort. In an interview with a magazine, the artist said; - If I give an example of how exactly I hear sounds with my ear device; I hear it as if the printer has run out of ink and it's like an image of a misprinted text. I hope this example was self explanatory. When I'm not using my device, I'm like a wall.” she stated.
On the other hand, the artist, who likes face-to-face warm and sincere communication, overcomes all the walls caused by health problems thanks to correspondence, lip reading and video online communication technologies in parallel with her hearing aid. This special situation of the artist reflects how much her deep imagination has developed, especially when we look at her surrealist works.
Dila Tanrikulu C. Since 1999, she has been producing the field of painting. In addition to portraits, the artist prefers to paint in surrealist style. She brings to the surface the facts that touch people deeply, from the depths of the subconscious, silently, by constructing and blending them only with visuality.
In a way, it confronts its own reality with the reality of humanity in its visual world. While transforming into a strong inner cry in the silent world of the artist, it presents the reflection of a general human condition to its audience. Colors and shapes re-exist on the surface that the artist paints as her inner voice.
With her surreal paintings, Dila Tanrıkulu Ç., visually confronts and fuses her reality with that of humanity, a construction of subject matter that exists in the subconscious or supraconscious of any person, who at least once or twice have felt a sense of self-doubt.
Traces of symbolism are evident in her work. Here you may find a wide array of subjects such as Contradiction, Greed, Ego, Inner Conflict, Peace, Sin and Religion, the Seeker, Escape from Oneself, Doubt and Questioning, Rebellion, Passion, Belief, Innocence and that of being Human.
Although inner rebellion does not attach itself to material existence, it sometimes leaves a place of spiritual peace in its wake.
After graduating from Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Faculty Painting Department, she established her own studio in Sweden. She still continues her work there.
